Task 1 (Graph) - The chart below shows the percentage of population in four countries from 1950 to 2000, with projections till 2050. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar charts shows the change in the population in four countries from 1950 to 2000 and also gives the data of the predicted figures in 2050.
Overall, the percentage of population in India and USA inclined and this figure showed a fall in China and Japan. As per the projection, the population rate would go down further in all countries except India which would rise and in USA it is expected to remain same.
15% was the proportion of population in India in 1950 which was triple the rate of population in Japan and as per the estimation it would touch about 21% in 2050 after showing a considerable growth of 4% in 2000.The population rate in USA in 1950 was 5% lower than in India. After showing a marginal rise to 13% in 2000, it is projected to remain same till 2050.
In 1950, China had the highest population percentage which was just over a quarter. This rate fell to about 24% in 2000 and by 2050, it is forecast to significantly drop to about 19%. The percentage of population in Japan went down by 1% in 2000 from 5% in 1950 and this rate is anticipated to fall further to 3% in 2050.
