Task 1 (Graph)

The chart below shows the annual water usage by different industries.

The bar chart gives a comparison of the consumption of water from public supply and ground water annually by various industries.

Overall, it is evident that the usage of ground water was higher than that of public supply in all the industries except machinery and food/drink industry.

The highest amount of ground water was used in chemical industry compared to other industries at 430 millions cubic meters in addition to 240 million cubic meters of public supply water. Secondly, metal industry consumed 240 million cubic meters of ground water as opposed to 90 million cubic meters of water from public supply. The ground water consumption in paper industry was 190million cubic meters as against 20 million cubic meters of public supply water. An almost similar ground water use can be seen in the textile and fuel industry at 80 and 70 million cubic meters respectively. However,  public supply water was used at an equal amount in both these industries at 10 million cubic meters each accounting to the least usage of water from public supply in all industries.

While 190 million cubic meters of public water was used in food/ drink industry, it consumed 110 million cubic meters of ground water. The least usage of ground water was by the machinery industry at 10 million cubic meters as against 100 million cubic meters of public supply water.
